The Women’s Ashes
The Women’s Ashes, a highly anticipated test cricket series between England and Australia, two giants of the cricket circuit, is wrapping up with only the final match left to be played.
Day Four at Trent Bridge played out in Australia’s favour, with the English top order being demolished during their chase which was initially going well. Australia’s bowlers, specifically Ash Gardner and Kim Garth, proved themselves at the match, taking significant wickets that ultimately gained the Australian victory.
However, this does not mean the end of hopes for the English side. Although Australia has undoubtedly dominated in the past years, this is the first time the fight seems to be evening out, and England after all, has a knack for rising from the ashes. And England has come prepared.
Danni Wyatt, break out English test cricket star, has become a source of anticipation for the opposing team. An aggressive middle order batter, she is expected to fuel the fight against the Australian fury. English captain Sophie Ecclestone said it best, calmly stating after the disappointing day four:
“We’re going for the win”
Former English spinner Alex Hartley also commented, saying:
“We have to see Danni play her shots tomorrow, she can’t go into her shell.”
“We’re in for a belter, no matter what happens.”
