Police in Norwalk, Ohio,
Police in Norwalk, Ohio, received a call on June 16th from a 31 year old woman, saying that she was “shot in the back by her two year old son”. This shot proved to be fatal for her and the 8 month old unborn baby she was carrying at the time.
Just a few moments later, her husband called 911 saying he got a call from his wife “screaming something about my son and needing to call 911.” When officers arrived at the scene, they found the mother, son and pistol in the upstairs master bedroom, the mother fully conscious.
The two year old was removed at the request of the mother before he gave a full account of the events. The toddler had gotten hold of a pistol from the nightstand in the bedroom, and detectives found an additional 12-round magazine for the pistol and a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun and an Airsoft rifle in the bedroom as well.
The 28 year old husband arrived shortly after, and the mother was rushed to the hospital where her baby was pronounced dead after an emergency C-section. The woman was pronounced dead after that as well.
Authorities say that the investigation is still ongoing, with no charges filed so far. The case will be forward to Huron County Prosecutor’s Office.
