Attack In GermanyA woman lost her life after being assaulted and then pushed off a slope by an American man near Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. The 21 year old victim went on a hike with her friend, a 22 year old woman, to catch a view of the famous Castle from Marienbrüke bridge.  

The two were lured by the 30 year old American man into taking a more concealed trail to the destination, before he physically attacked the younger one of two, and choked and pushed the other one when she tried intervening. The younger victim was then also pushed, falling far below her friend and dying of her injuries later in the hospital.

They were rescued by Füssen mountain rescue services, though were only able to save one of the two women. The 22 year old was in condition to speak to the police when at the hospital, and revealed the details of the incident. This has led to the attacker now being held in police custody and being investigated on suspicion of murder, attempted murder and attempted sexual offense.

A representative of the US Embassy told reporters that the embassy is “aware of an incident involving multiple individuals in Germany” and that “The US Consulate in Munich is monitoring the situation closely and is in contact with the authorities.”
